Caraway Seeds, 1oz.
Caraway is a biennial, self-seeding plant that occurs naturally in certain regions of Europe and Asia, although it is casually naturalized in North America due to escaping garden cultivation. The herb is harvested for its small, ridged, and slightly curved fruits that are erroneously referred to as seeds. Caraway seed makes a flavorful tea reputed to help settle an upset stomach. Caraway is better known, however, for its culinary contributions.*
Caraway is used for digestive problems including heartburn, bloating, gas, loss of appetite, and mild spasms of the stomach and intestines. Caraway oil is also used to help people cough up phlegm, improve control of urination, kill bacteria in the body, and relieve constipation. Caraway is used in mouthwashes and in skin rubs to improve local blood flow. In foods, caraway is used as a cooking spice.*
